Time Lapse - Peoria, IL

Here is my time lapse project that I finally completed. There were two time lapses that inspired me to do my own. The first was the opening to the Netflix series House of Cards. There are several time lapse senses that makes the intro. Also I saw Dominic Boudreault, “City Limits” time lapse video. I shot several scenes around the Peoria area to make my time lapse. I used my Canon T1i to shoot all my images. For some scenes I used Canon 70-200mm f 2.8 lens or my Sigma 18-200 f 4.0 lens. I used Apple QuickTime Pro to combine the images at 30 frames per second to make the movie. There was a lot of trial and error, research, and shooting to make this movie. I learned a lot and I feel like I have grown a bit as a photographer. So now I present to you “Time Lapse – Peoria, IL”. Thanks for watching.

A lot has happen since my last blog post back August 2013. Buckle your seat belt because....herrrrrrrreeeeee we go..... I spent a lot of time prepping my motorcycle to do the Learning Curves Racing clinic at Blackhawk Hawkfarms raceway...don't worry folks I won't become a pro. Got to give big thanks to Mitch at Mid-Illini MotorSports for the guidance on prepping my bike and Extremekempy.com for the parts . Went to the Game 2 of the World Series where my St. Louis Cardinals won the game on an obstruction call...HOOOOOO!!!!!! I am a passionate member of Cardinal Nation so I will not talk about the 2013 World Series. Finally, I have left the Land of Lincoln and moved to the Peach State. So now I am a Midwesterner that is the south. Don't worry folks I'll get back to posting soon.

Here is a shot of some of the boxes I have left from my move.  Mordue was the company that moved my stuff.  I played around with a few arrangements and like this shot the most.   This was a basic shot with my Canon 7D with a Sigma 18-200mm at F4.0, 1/60 sec, 1000 ISO using available light coming from the window.  Also with a little post processing with Adobe Lightroom

Helicopter Tour

This shot was taken on the northern side of Maui while on a helicopter tour. At first, it was a bit uneasy because of some turbulence, but once we got on the coastal side, it was peaceful flight. The pilot/tour guide was great. He, along with several other people I met, moved to Hawaii after vacationing there.  Hmm, could I end up moving to Hawaii in the near future?  Stay tuned.

Torque Fest

Had an opportunity to shoot at the Torque Fest Drag Racing Event at the Central Illinois Dragway in Havana, IL. This drag strip is in the middle of nowhere. Seriously, its in the middle of nowhere. If you asked me how to get there; I'll tell you to drive till you see the CVS on your left hand side, hang a right there and follow the back roads for about 3 miles and it'll be on your right. This drag strip is in the middle of some corn fields. This night was only the test and tune runs (test and tune runs are when the racers are testing their vehicles in preparation for the race day on Saturday). The skies were clear, humidity low and the temperature was cool, which made it perfect conditions racing.

WATAAH!

Ok folks this post is inspired by the latest heat wave that is hitting the mid-west.  A couple of weeks  back my mom paid me a visit. One day of her visit, while browsing in a grocery store I ran across something that caught my attention.  The picture below is of a cartoonish looking boy yelling “Drink Wataah!”  Seriously, this bottle of water is called WATAAH!.  After leaving the store I was curious about this WATAAH!. So what does any curious person do in this day and age?  You google it! WATAAH! was started when a mom got fed up with her two sons drinking sodas and they said that water was boring (I agree with them water is boring at times). WATAAH! is is branded as water for kids and their website is pretty cool also.  There are several different WATAAHs and each one contains different things in them (example, WATAAH! Power has Magnesium).  With the temperatures in the high 90s and the heat indexes in the tipple digits this week, remember to stay cool, stay in the shade, and drink plenty of WATAAH!, water, agua (spanish), eau (french), or how ever you say it.

Stay cool out there.

Cambridge Property Managment

I got a chance to shoot a virtual tour of some apartments for Cambridge Property Management in Peoria IL.  These apartments are close to Bradley University.  A lot of planning and time was needed to shoot the eleven different units Cambridge owns.  The staff members at Cambridge  are great and easy to work with.  Each unit that was filmed, I was escorted by a maintenance person.  While filming I talked with some of the residents and realized that times has changed since I was last in a lecture hall.  Even used the, "Back in my day..." phrase a couple of times.

Cambridge have one to four bedroom apartments. Located within walking distance to Campus town and the Bradley Campus.  Below is a video of a One Bed One Bath apartment.

Madison & Main - Peoria, IL

Here is a shot of Shifters Pub in downtown Peoria, IL. This was taken while doing some location scouting for another shoot. The way the sun lit the left side of the building really caught my attention. The scouting didn't turn out too well, but at least I got this shot out of it.

Peoria Grand Nationals Rally

The Peoria Grand Nationals event was this past Saturday on the Peoria River Front. The Grand Nationals TT are dirt bike track races held at the Peoria Motorcycle Club.  On Saturday morning there was a motorcycle parade that departs from the Peoria Motorcycle Club and ends on the Peoria Riverfront.  At the riverfront there is a bike show, vendors, and bands performing.

It was a not an easy day shooting because of the crowds and the sun beaming down.  This year I did not make the parade because I woke up late.  I rode down to University and Main street and they had it blocked off.  The officer at the patrolling intersection did not let me join the parade.  It's like dude, come on, I'm on a bike just let me in.  After I was denied access to the join the parade, I made a U-turn and hopped on 74, and went to the riverfront.

I met a guy named Terry who was talking with a buddy of mine who had his bike in the bike show.  Below is a shot of Terry's 1999 Harley Davidson Road King.

Below is a shot of my buddy's bike that I mentioned earlier.  It is a custom 2005 Suzuki Hayabusa.

Later on that day I met a guy named TJ at his booth at the Grand Nationals rally.  TJ is artist that will draw, paint, and airbrush just about anything and everything. He really does, well according to his Facebook page.  One of the first bike I saw at his booth was a 2007 Harley Davidson Street Bob.  He told me that bike gets a lot of attention, and it did.  He told me that the bike is named, "Nightmare".  Below are several shots of his work.

Another friend of mine had a booth set up in the vendor section of the Grand Nationals Rally.  Outside of his booth, he had several bikes around. If you are needing motorcycle gear or parts.  Check out Extreme Kempy.  Below are a few shots of the bikes at his booth.

Keep seeing motorcycles!

Leaning Tower of Cookies and Mt. Cookie

A while back I had some free time on my hands and I decided to stage a shoot with some homemade white chocolate chip and Macadamia nut cookies.  I was browsing around on 500 px and saw different shots of cookies.  I shot this using my Canon 7D with Sigma 18 - 200 mm at f 11, and used an off camera flash; bouncing the flash off an umbrella on a light stand.  After playing around with different stacking styles I end up with two shots I liked.  The Leaning Tower of Cookies and Mt. Cookie.

UnDead Icons

One Sunday afternoon a few of my 2 wheeling friends decided to take a trip up Pontiac, IL to check out the Absolute Perfections Car Club Car show. Team Undead Icons was there performing stunts on the Pontiac High School parking lot. While there I met one of the members and asked if I can take a few photos of them performing. I got to give a shout out to Team Undead Icons for allowing me to take some shots.
